Probate Court Rules Advisory Committee

Pursuant to Connecticut General Statues Section 45a-78, the Probate Court Administrator is charged with recommending to the justices of the Supreme Court uniform rules of practice for the Probate Courts.

To assist with the formulation of recommended rules of probate practice, the administrator established the Probate Court Rules Advisory Committee comprised of probate judges, court staff, attorneys and members of the public. The committee is chaired by the administrator.

Between June 2011 and September 2012, the committee completed a comprehensive revision to the Connecticut Practice Book. The administrator submitted the proposed revision to the Supreme Court for approval in October of 2012. The Supreme Court approved the rules on November 7, 2012, with an effective date of July 1, 2013. This project builds upon the improvements from the recent structural changes to the Probate Court system, further strengthening professionalism and fostering uniformity in the courts.
