On September 18, 2019 at the Eastern States Exposition
in West Springfield, Massachusetts, the Judicial Marshal Honor Guard lead the
Connecticut Day parade. “As a Lieutenant Judicial Marshal assigned to the Hartford
district, it was quite an honor to see this unit lead the parade,” said Lieutenant
“The main purpose of the Honor Guard is to represent deceased marshals in a dignified and respectful manner,” said Marshal Basil Doran, who has been a member of the Honor Guard since 2013. In addition to their role at funerals, the group also presents the colors at sporting events and parades. “When we arrived at the Big E, we were not anticipating leading the parade. It was a great honor for us to lead the parade on Connecticut Day, and we would like to thank Chief Court Administrator Judge Patrick Carroll III, Director O’Donovan Murphy and Chief Louis Speringo for making it possible for us to participate at the Big E.”
Following the unit, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz and Major General Francis J. Evon Jr. were escorted by the four Major Commandants of the Connecticut State Militia units. In addition to his work as a marshal, Lieutenant Zaczynski also holds the rank of Major Commandant of the First Company Governor’s Horse Guards and represented the unit on that day (pictured behind the Lt. Governor).
