2014 Law School for Journalists Program
Topic: “Behind the Prison Walls: York Correctional Institution”

Members of the news media are invited to attend the 2014 Law School for
Journalists on Thursday, February 27, 2014. The event is organized by the
Judicial-Media Committee, with assistance from the Department of Correction
for the 2014 program.
The program will be held at the York Correctional Institution in Niantic,
beginning at 8:15 a.m. and concluding at 12:45 p.m., including a facility
tour. Pre-registration is mandatory. For further information about the

Important Notice:
A required part of registration
is the completion of a routine Background Check Application process through
the Department of Correction. A completed
Background Check Application form must be submitted directly to the Department of
Correction prior to
Friday, February 7, 2014 for processing in advance of the
program date, either to dedicated mail at
doc.pio@ct.gov or dedicated fax at 860-692-7783.
Please note other important and routine policy information on attending and touring a
Department of Correction facility:
- Bring photo identification.
- No cell phones/electronic devices.
- No cameras or audio recording.
- Be able to clear a metal detector.
- Dress weather appropriate as a portion of the facility tour may be outdoors.
The Judicial-Media Committee, with assistance from the Department of
