How to Find Connecticut Statutes Online

Using the General Assembly’s Search Page

 

 

Go to: http://search.cga.ct.gov

By Section Number

  1. Enter the statute number such as 46b-40 in the Number:
  2. Select Statutes – Section text (1/1/07) In Database(s):

[NOTE: By holding down CTRL key while clicking you can select several fields at the same time]

3. Click Search button

 

 

4. Click correct Document name link in Summary of Statutes Window

   (e.g. 46B-00-0040---K.HTM)

 

 

By Subject

  1. To search the General Statutes of Connecticut by key words, enter terms in Text:

·         If you are searching for a phrase such as “best interest of child”, use contains the phrase. This will return only documents which contain the exact phrase. (Equivalent to using quotation marks.)

·         If you are searching for the words “youth” and “crisis”, not necessarily in that order, use contains all. This will return documents which contain both words in any order (Equivalent to “and” command).

·         If you are searching for the words “youth” or “crisis”, use contains any. This will return documents which contain either word (Equivalent to “or” command).

  1. Select Statutes – Section text (1/1/07) or use CTRL key to select multiple fields In Database(s):

 

 

 

  1. Click Document Name link in summary of Statutes

 

 

Proximity Search (Advance Search)

  1. Select Database to search [[e.g. Statutes – Section text (1/1/07)]
  2. Enter search in Text Box, select Proximity Search
  3. Use connector w/# between words
  4. Press search

 

 

Wild cards

 

Child? = Childs (one character)

Child* = Children (indefinite characters)

 

Browseable format (by Title/chapter)
