1. Pursuant to Practice Book Section 1-12,
the sessions of the Superior Court will be opened at 10:00 AM unless
otherwise ordered. Defendants are expected to be in the Courtroom when
their cases are called.
2. A State’s Attorney shall be present in
the Courtroom at 10:00 AM each day ready to present cases to the Court.
3. Scheduling of all trials and VOP
hearings will be the responsibility of the PJ. All scheduling issues
including requests for continuances in the matters of trials
and VOP hearings and other specially assigned hearings shall be referred
to the PJ.
4. Continuance request shall be granted
by a Judge only*. In an effort to keep the “Over Time Standards”
statistics at a reasonable rate, continuances should not exceed two
weeks except upon showing of good cause. (*Continuance requests for
cases appearing on the docket for the first time may be granted by the
Clerk’s Office for a period of time not to exceed two weeks.)
5. Any Motion to Vacate a Rearrest shall
be referred to the Judge who ordered the rearrest.
6. No case shall be moved to the
Pre-trial docket until such time as an offer has been extended by the
State and rejected, on the record, by the Defendant.
7. No case shall be placed on the Firm
Jury list until it has been pre-tried by the PJ.
8. Once a case has been placed on the
Firm Jury list it is presumed to be “trial ready” and is subject to
being called in for jury selection at any time.
9. All cases involving gun charges of any
kind shall be moved, at arraignment, to the “G” docket and continued to
the next Tuesday or Friday.
